Mr Mover
After several attempts, I finally caught Wyatt on the move on video…
But first, here is a sneak peek at Wyatt’s Christmas present. Which we never wrapped, and opened as soon as we got home. (drat!)
And here’s a little clip of his walking antics.
Right now he seems to be on a milk strike, and only wants his freedom. So William Wallace marches on throughout the house, with a new record of walking from the chair in his room to the living room couch. Of course my phone was no where to be found. But take it from me, it was quite a sight!
Sleep Strike
With so much going on in Wyatt’s life, it’s no wonder he does not want to stop. Ever. Or so it seems…
We are still waiting on the top row of extremely swollen gums to produce pearly whites. In the mean time, he is working away at learning to walk, exploring the world as it expands for him, and chewing on everything in sight. But that leaves virtually no time for things like napping, eating, and signaling for the potty. It has definitely been a week of surprises…
Today we went shopping at Whole Foods and Walmart. Both stores were busy and exciting for Wyatt. He has suddenly gone from enjoying sitting in the cart, to wanting to stand and climb out. And devour the shopping list. And the pen. And the coupons… As challenging this makes things, I find it exciting to see him so interested in everything. Ev-ery-thing. And of course he is always making new friends in all the shops too. So we are adjusting as he moves into the new phase of learning.
As the old saying goes… Parenthood, just when you “get it”, everything changes!
What… A… Day…!
Phew! Last thing I remember, it was 8am. And now it’s dark outside. Again!
Today has been an exceptionally busy day for Mr Wyatt. Has anyone else noticed that June 2011 seems to be a good month for moving forward? There seem to be more opportunities opening up, better communication, and it’s like the ball is really rolling. And for Wyatt, it has been all about moving forward. Literally. Forward. And upward.
A little back story: At one of Wyatt’s doctor’s visits, I had mentioned that he seemed to be exceptionally happy for the last few days. Wyatt has always been a happy kid, but the last two days or so he had been REALLY REALLY happy. She asked me if he had achieved any milestone recently. I said that he had mastered rolling over from back to stomach. Her response surprised me. She said that babies can work really hard on achieving something. And that while they are working hard at it, they can get frustrated and grumpy until they ‘get it’. She said that some even are up all night worrying about it. Aw! That made me remember how each time I would get Wyatt in the morning, his crib looked like a celebrity had trashed it. Charlie Sheen, go home! So we attributed his extra-happiness to having completed his goal of rolling over.
So now back to the present: This morning, Wyatt proudly showed me how he could get from laying down to sitting up all by himself. We had seen him try over the last couple of days, but not like this. In fact, I almost missed it. He even squawked loudly to get my attention as I was moving his toys around at the time. (I was watching tv.)
I looked over and he was sitting up. Proudly. With a huge smile on his face!
Luckily he did it again:
So that was that. Now on to new toys! Now that he can sit up by himself, I got out the next challenge… The Jolly Jumper!
Apparently this gave him some ideas, so with the help of The Daddy, he was able to hold himself up in his crib!
Next we had some naked time. (For him. Not me.) I feel like he is always in a diaper and needs some time to be freeeee…

Next, I ran some errands while Scott and Wyatt played. Had to get the diaper jeans. Ok, had to get the car serviced, and had an hour to kill with a Target next door. What’s a girl to do?
Here’s the man himself.
For those of you not familiar with the commercial, here it is:
23 Weeks Old Today!
Well this is another ‘I can’t believe how fast the time goes’ post. But also, it seems like Wyatt has been in our lives for a lot longer than just 23 weeks. But that works out to about 5 1/2 months. Coming up on the big 6 month old threshold… So in that way, it does seem to have gone by fast. Especially when I have a huge tub full of clothes that are already too small for him! He is growing so fast!
Lately Wyatt has become more and more curious. About everything. Including the remote control for the tv. If he sees it, his gaze fixes on it and he is relentless. I have to distract him and move it out of sight. He knows what he wants!
Also in the last few days he has been working on crawling. Today he got up on his hands and knees. I was so excited! Then I started looking around at all the stuff he could get into once he can move faster, and I realize how much work there is to do!!
But still, it is strange because basically anywhere he has gone in his whole life, someone has put him there. So it is fun to see him explore with his own mobility and freedom. I can see he enjoys it already. Wait till he discovers running!!
