PostHeaderIcon “Is that gas, or did I feel the baby just move…?”

At just over 15 weeks, there seems to be more and more to talk about!  Stuff is really starting to happen…  Apparently, at this point the gender of the baby can be determined.  Our next appointment is Tuesday next week and although we are scheduled to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time, I hope we get to see if it has “stuff” or not.  People tell me they are more accurate at detecting boys than girls, as the boys show their stuff and what they think is a girl may just be a shy boy.  But oh well.  As long as we don’t paint the little Dude’s room pink, we will be fine.

Also at 15 weeks, mom (that’s me!) should be able to feel the baby moving inside.  Although you won’t see or feel it from the outside for a while…  Apparently this happens when I am sitting or laying still.  So, at night.  (Or nap time!)  I thought it might be just in my head, but the day before I read this, I was sure my stomach felt… well… different  Like still was poking around, and it wasn’t the cheeseburger from earlier.  I’m pretty in tune (aka paranoid) with my body and feelings it has.  So I did wonder.  The next night I had images of arms and legs pushing around.  Little Dude somersaults and backflips.  Hey Dude, enjoy it while you have the room.  All too soon, and you will be pushing new frontiers.  But we don’t need to talk about THAT just yet…

What else… oh, the Dude should measure about 4 inches long, and can now move all of his or her limbs.  And he or she can hear!  Scott’s already planning the play-list which will include the Binary Sunset (of course) as I mentioned classical music makes the kid smarter.  In fact I am playing it now.  I think the Dude likes it as it is making me smile.  Also, I have started to play… country music.  (sigh)  The Dude gets what the Dude wants.

Although the Dude’s eyes are fused shut, one email source says if you put a flashlight on my belly, the Dude will naturally move away from the light.  I told Scott about this, and although I am not sure the two situations are related, but he has started to tap my belly.  Like you would an aquarium.  Hmmm.  I am pretty sure you are not suppose to scare the fish, or the Dude.

Anyone wanting to ‘read’ ahead and get an idea of what is in store between weeks 15 and 20, can click here to see for themselves! Amazing.

PS:  Don’t forget to get your vote in to say whether you think we will have a boy or a girl.  See the right side panel for the poll.  This may be the last few weeks before we find out…  I wonder if we should tell or not…
